Summer in Zell am See
Summer in Zell am See is definitely a hot spot that everyone should see. Zell am See town is located right by the Zell am See lake and surrounded by beautiful mountains.The town was first established as small village in the 19th century and was called ‘Zelle im Pinzgau’. It started to become an attraction to tourists when the railway was built through Zell am see in 1875. Zell am See is home to winter and summer sports. Tourists enjoy skiing in the winter and swimming and hiking in the summer.
Zell am See has beautiful little boutiques and restaurants for everyone. From clothes to home remedies to Austrian delights the pedestrian zone in Zell am See is the place to go.Take a day out in town and wonder through, eat ice cream at Mosshammer, go and walk by the lake. Sit in the sun at Crazy Daisy’s and have a cocktail. Down by the lake you can enjoy renting a boat and cruise around the lake and enjoy the views.
There is a cycling path pretty much all around the lake so you can cycle to a grassy spot and take a dip in the lake. There are multiple spots to hire a small boat, canoe, paddle boards. For the hikers out there – Zell am See-Kaprun region has beautiful trails of all degrees of difficulty. Enjoy fantastic views of the region and enjoy looking down over the lake.Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat during your walk in the little mountain huts. They mainly serve Austrian specialities such as an apple strudel or ‘Pinzgauer Kasnocken’ which is a sort of pasta homemade with lots of cheese from the region.
Boat cruise on the Zell am See lake
Take an afternoon cruise on the lake. Enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the main town Zell am See. There are two options. The panorama cruise takes you around the lake and lasts about 45 mins and departures every full hour or you can just use a single crossing over the lake to the other town Thumersbach. There is a nice restaurant right by the lake called ‘Beach Club’, a perfect place to relax in the sun and have an ice cream or a bite to eat. Their cuisine is outstanding.
